Each year Garden Design Magazine comes out with their top ten list of landscape trends for the upcoming year. Over the next few weeks we will be highlighting a different trend. Next up? Unexpected arrangements.
There has been a shift of the past few years in the area of floral design as tastes change. Adding more natural elements can make an arrangement more visually interesting and compliments the season. What makes this fun for gardeners is that these elements can be found almost anywhere. In the spring unique twigs with pretty buds can be highlighted.
In summer grasses of different textures can add an unexpected twist. In fall dried seed heads and pods can bring a touch of fall into the home. In winter, berries and different colors and textures of evergreen boughs can liven up a creative arrangement.
As an example today I have created a spring arrangement using things collected in the garden and landscape.
